Update on Fr. Messner's condition 03/20/15:
Father Messner is making remarkable progress. Many of you may have seen the news report this week that he was up and walking. He is starting physical therapy but still has the tracheotomy and a long recovery ahead of him. The cards that have been sent to the rectory have been delivered and the occupation therapist will use them as a tool in his therapy. So please feel free to send more cards to the rectory. We are waiting to hear from his family as to when he will be able to receive visitors.
We understand that his undisturbed rest and our prayers are most helpful as he recovers. We will continue with the recitation of the Rosary every Friday at 6:30p.m. before stations for Father, and we will have special prayers at Adoration every Sunday from 4 to 5p.m. In addition, the Rosary Novena is said every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
Father Messner was born in May 1962 in Lykens, PA. He was ordained to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Harrisburg on June 6, 1998. Father was assigned as Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Lancaster on August 22, 2009. In previous assignments Father Messner served at St. Francis Xavier, Gettysburg and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Abbottstown in addition to others.
