For the 2008-2009 school year, Sacred Heart School benefitted from an estimated 2,000+ hours of Family Service Hours! This participation made our school a better place for our students.

For the 2009-2010 School Year, School Board has decided to continue to require 15 hours of school service from each family. Cafeteria and school yard monitoring (areas of great need) will count for a 50% bonus credit– that is, for each our of service there, the participant is credited with 1.5 hours of service. As with the past year, for those families who do not perform and report their hours, a payment in the amount of $5.00 for each hour of shortfall will be imposed. As we’ve tried to make clear, we don’t seek your money for Service Hours, but rather your participation. Don’t risk getting an invoice in June (there were those who did receive one last June), but instead please participate, meet other Sacred Heart parents, and improve our school!

To those members who met their requirement for the 2008-2009 school year, we thank you, with a special thank you to those who exceeded (sometimes numerous times over) the number of required hours.

As a reminder, here is a list of activities that fulfill Service Hour requirements.

A. Cafeteria (preparation and dish duty).

B. Playground monitoring.

C. Development Office activities (Italian Fest, Christmas Bazaar, Benefit Auction, Annual Appeal work, etc.)

D. Home and School Association Officers.

E. School Board.

F. After-School Clubs (chess club, etc.)

G. School Office Assistance.

H. Administration of the Family School Service Program.

I. Activities in support of the Home and School Association (School Picnic, Basket Bingo, Catholic Schools Week activities, Box Top administrator, etc.)

J. Home Room Representatives.

K. Others as Approved by School Administration.
