Fr. Quinn was born
on July 18, 1928 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late
Donald B. and Veronica Curtin Quinn. He studied at Rockhurst College
in Kansas City and attended St. Louis Preparatory Seminary
in St. Louis and Glenmary Seminary in
Cincinnati.
He held a
Doctorate from The Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, Italy. He
also served 20 years as a Coordinator for the National Rural
Research Center in Washington, D.C.
Fr. Quinn was ordained a Priest for the Glenmary Home Missioners
on May 17, 1953. While at Glenmary his
assignments included being procurator for the Glenmary Motherhouse
in Cincinnati; starting a new parish in West Virginia; director of the Glenmary
Pastoral Center; Research Coordinator for the Glenmary Research
Center and adjunct professor of pastoral theology at the Catholic University of
America in Washington DC.
He was
incardinated in the Diocese of Harrisburg in 1990. He served at Holy
Infant Church, York Haven as Administrator and then Pastor from 1987
until 1993 when he was appointed Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul
Church in Hanover. He served there until his retirement in 2001. On
June 11, 2001, Fr. Quinn became part of Sacred Heart parish.
Fr.
Quinn once said that from the day of his First
Communion, he knew he wanted to be a priest. He
was also heard frequently saying that we all have 2
birthdays: One when we enter into the earthly world, and
one when we enter into the Heavenly one. |
